The aim of this staff development course is to equip you with the ethos, understanding, and skills to ultimately produce your own Open Educational Resource (OER). Therefore, weeks 9, 10 & 11 are dedicated to you producing your own OER learning artefact (specific to your own area of study)

"Knowledge" and 'Your' Learning Process 

The majority of your study time will be spent working through the documentation (and study materials provided) individually. However, it is essential that you/we utilise the interactive nature of this Wiki site. We (Phil and Craig) will be accessing the Wiki regularly, to consider and respond to the thoughts, examples, suggestions and questions that you pose (at the bottom of each session/page is a discussion panel). The idea is for all learners/participants to contribute to this important and collaborate process. As you will hopefully establish from Session 1's activities - 'we' are not here to "teach" you established knowledge, but to negotiate and 'create' new directions for our networked-knowledges and emerging practices.   

 

Collaborative Learning Process 

Throughout the module, Phil and I will increasingly introduce you to new vocabularies (emerging technical terminology and theoretical ideas), in order to enhance your understanding of (student-centred) DIY-Education; Anarchogogy; Edupunk; Innovative Assessment etc.  The first 8-weeks of work will therefore introduce and induct you in the this emerging world; weeks 9, 10, & 11 will culminate in you producing (and distributing to colleagues) your own OER. Part of this end-of-module assessment will consist of online discussions/collaborations with either Phil or myself - so as to establish how (your utilisation of) the ideas, and, (your) practical strategy in creating an OER might best be formulated.    

 

Course Grade

Grading is on a "pass" or "fail" basis. This outcome of this will be determined the production of (and peer-review process feedback/critique) your own innovative OER. It is expected that you will utilise this learning/engagement 'artefact' as part of your own teaching/engagement practice, and, also upload it as a 'free OER' on the learning repository Jorum (www.jorum.ac.uk).
